How do I schedule an appointment?
Email me at [email protected] to schedule a free 10 minute consultation.
If you decide to move forward after the consultation, you will receive an email with a link to intake paperwork to complete prior to the first therapy session.  You will complete the paperwork through a HIPAA secure portal.
**Alternatively, you may use the contact form on this site to send me a message with any questions.

What is the purpose of the free 10-minute consultation call?
The consultation call offers a no-obligation opportunity for us to determine if we're a good fit. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about the therapy process, my style, experience, etc. I will also ask questions to make sure online therapy is a good option for you. It's essential for both parties to feel comfortable for therapy to be effective. This call is not a requirement, but is recommended.

What steps are taken to ensure the confidentiality and safety of my data and personal information?
Protecting your privacy is paramount. All interactions and records are kept confidential in alignment with HIPAA and ethical guidelines.

Is everything we talk about confidential?
In therapy, you have a legal and ethical right to confidentiality. I am ethically and legally obligated to keep your information private (including dates of sessions, context discussed, personal identifying information, etc).
However, there are some exceptions to confidentiality where I would be legally and ethically required to disclose details of your case with others:
- You sign a Release of Information which gives me permission to discuss your case with others. This can include a family member or another provider.
-Imminent harm to self or others
-There is reasonable suspicion of abuse/neglect against a minor child or elderly person
-A court order is received directing the disclosure of information

How long will sessions last?
Each session will typically last between 45-55 minutes. If you are needing to ever end a session early or are running late, feel free to let me know and arrangements will be made.

How often will I attend therapy?
It is recommended to start with weekly sessions.  The cadence will be reassessed as your symptoms improve.  At that time, it may be discussed to move sessions to every other week or once a month if you would like to continue to schedule "check-ins".

What can I expect from these sessions?
In the first few sessions, it is my opportunity to get to know you; your background, values,  discuss goals and treatment plan, as well as build rapport.
Following the first few sessions, we will start to actively engage in the treatment goals. You will start to work toward gaining insights, learning skills, expressing emotions, and more. These things will help you make progress and see ways to maintain that progress long term. While I can guide you, you are ultimately responsible for your progress  by engaging and putting things into practice in and out of sessions.

How will I know when it's time to end therapy?
There is research that indicates that individuals see the best results between 8-15 sessions. Because every individual is different, that may not always be the case.  Many people continue therapy for months or even years, if needed. Throughout your time in care, we will check in with your progress. Once treatment goals are met, I often encourage clients to continue with a few additional sessions; known as the maintenance phase of treatment. This may be the time where we adjust the session cadence. If that progress is maintained throughout the maintenance phase, the next step will be completion. If during the maintenance phase, there are some barriers or stressors that come up, the priority will be to focus on managing them to get back on track.
Alternatively, therapy may end if progress is not being made and a different approach or provider is identified to be a better fit at any given time.

Can I come back to therapy even after completion?
You are welcome to return if you need to revisit concerns that flare up, tools and skills that you may have learned but forgotten, or if there are new presenting problems.  Depending on the severity and impact on your life, this new therapy cycle may not take as long as the previous one.

What is your cancellation policy?
Life can be unpredictable. I offer a cancellation policy that requires at least 24 hour notice. This allows us the opportunity to reschedule and ensures that the session time can be offered to another client if you can't make it.

How do I know if my therapist is the right fit for me?
The therapeutic alliance is key in making progress in counseling.  Sometimes, the alliance may not feel strong and this is okay.  I will often check in regarding how you are feeling about our alliance and the work that we are doing together. If it's determined that we are not a good fit, I will support you in working toward finding providers that align with your needs.

Do you provide any resources or tools to help me between our sessions?
Yes, continuous growth and support are important. I offer guidelines, exercises, and readings that align with the methods we're using in therapy, to extend your learning and healing outside our session times.

Is there a requirement for a long-term commitment to therapy?
No, the duration of our therapeutic relationship will be based on your individual needs and therapeutic goals. We'll reassess regularly to make sure it's serving you well.

Can the therapy sessions focus on specific areas like managing anxiety or self-esteem?
Yes, each therapeutic journey is tailored to individual needs. We can focus on specialized topics as long as they fall within my areas of competency.

What payment options do you provide? Are they secure?
I utilize Ivy Pay which is secure and compliant with HIPAA  standards for client confidentiality. Your credit card information is stored with Ivy Pay, not in my files or other records; I do not have access to your stored credit card information.  You have the option to save a credit, debit, HSA or FSA card on-file with Ivy Pay.
